Introducing: otissito.com

I know that I've already talked about otissito.com on the blog in several other posts, but today I am ready for people to really go start looking at it. I had some trouble with a meta tag the other day (never should have had that problem), and it wouldn't show up properly, especially on Internet Explorer.

But, thanks to some info from Russell I fixed the problem and the page is looking nice so far. It isn't anything flashy, and I still have another project to add to my portfolio, but for now I think I've done some pretty good work. I guess all of you will have to be the judge of that though.

All in all, it took me about... 7 hours to put the whole thing together I would say. Most of it was actually spent in Adobe Photoshop making the cool color-changing navigation menu, and the header for the page, and then the actual writing of the XHTML and CSS wasn't too time consuming. I have discovered that each time I go back to do a little more work I am remembering things a little bit better and don't have to go back and look at old examples or do a quick online search to find the right way to code something. The bullets on lists still throw me a bit though. I can get them to disappear, but changing what they look like just doesn't like to work for me.

Next on my agenda is to try out some simple javascript exercises that Russell sent me last week. He needs to know how much the teacher I had actually taught us so he can make his lesson plans accordingly, and I need the practice so I figure it can't hurt. Of course, who knows if I can actually get it right. I did have to struggle through the javascript portion of the class a little bit before the basics started to sink in.
