The Perceived Advantage

While there is very rarely anything about Conquer Club that will upset me, or even get me riled (it is a game after all), sometimes in my capacity as a Tournament Director I feel like nobody is paying attention to the very valid arguments I bring to the table, and that can be very frustrating. Especially when big decisions are made that directly affect my area of the site in what I believe to be a very negative fashion.

That is what has been happening for the past week in the moderator forums on the site. I clearly understand the reasoning behind the rule change that Lack and Twill want to make, and in principle it sounds like a reasonable change, but after thinking about it I began to realize that while it is a change that doesn't have much impact in the general games of Conquer Club, it does have a large impact on how tournaments play out, so I decided I had better speak up.

Now, I understand that I probably have a bit more emotional investment in Conquer Club than most, but I have my reasons for that, which I believe are legitimate. So, I can see how when making my argument that this rule change is a bad idea in its current form I am coming across as a little strong and zealous. However, even that isn't helping.

I just wish that they wouldn't just ignore Night Strike and I as we make our concerns known. We have outlined countless scenarios in which the rule change would fail for tournament play, but nobody is responding to them or taking them into consideration. I would never "leave the site" over it, but I will say I'm a bit disappointed that an area of the site I have worked extremely hard to improve and help grow is being sort of ignored for the most part.

What upset me the most was the "Get over it, you can just adjust to the new system" comment that one of the other moderators made in response to my concerns. I am aware that none of the other moderators have ever had anything to do with the tournament area, but to dismiss me like that was completely uncalled for in my opinion.

I guess I'll see what happens. At the moment I am discussing the situation with Twill on the instant messenger while typing this entry to see what can be done. Worst case scenario: I never run another team tournament, or play in another team game. Best case scenario: They don't screw over the tournament forums.
