Air Conditioning: Double Deuce

It is finally getting hot enough of a regular basis that Holly and I are starting to be really uncomfortable while we are sleeping, even with a fan blowing directly onto us while we are in bed. The solution: two air conditioners, just like last summer when we stole Rick and Shelley's for the time they were gone to Los Angeles. The only problem with that plan is that Rick and Shelley are still in Provo this summer, and Rick just so happens to own a bunch of knives that could possibly find their way buried into various locations of my physical being if I were to steal his air conditioner again this summer. So, that meant finding one to buy...Normally, I keep my eyes out on the advertisements that families post in the laundry buildings here at Wymount so that I can see if anyone is selling something used that I happen to need. Unfortunately, everyone selling their air conditioners this summer want $150-$200 for them, and they are the big, nasty 12,000 BTU units that suck up power like no tomorrow. First, I don't want to pay $200 for an air conditioner, and second, I don't want one any bigger than the 5,200 BTU unit that I currently have. Last summer running two air conditioners at 5,200 BTUs my electric bill was a comfortable $40-$45 a month. I want to keep it that way, so in the end Holly and I picked up a brand new machine from Target while we were maternity clothes shopping and used a little bit of our "stimulus check" we got earlier in the week. Now the house is nice and cool for Holly while she is working at home doing her edits for work, and we can sleep comfortably as well. That is a big deal because when Holly is hot while she sleeps she doesn't want me to touch her, and I don't sleep well if I'm not touching her. Catch-22 to be sure.
